As part of the city of Franklin's Integrated Water Resource Plan, the Franklin Water Reclamation Facility in Tennessee shifted to advanced anaerobic digestion using the thermal hydrolysis process (THP) in 2022.
As a result, the facility now produces lower volumes of biosolids, which are classified as Class A in the United States. The site was also able to reduce its reliance on external energy, supported by the increased biogas production enabled by the THP system.
