Beckton Sewage Treatment Works (STW) is located in London and is operated by Thames Water. The STW is equipped with advanced digestion. The THP unit at the plant is one of the largest globally, with an installed capacity of 36,500 dry solids tonnes per year. Prior to the installation of the Cambi unit, undigested sludge was incinerated using sludge-powered generators. Due to capacity issues, Thames Water decided to adopt Cambi technology. The treated biosolids are either used for land application or incinerated in the existing generators.
