The Riverside Sewage Treatment Works (STW) switched to advanced digestion using thermal hydrolysis to cater to a growing population. The site's combined heat and power (CHP) engines now supply enough electrical power to run the entire Riverside plant and allow for export to the UK National Grid during times of low flows.
