The Whitlingham Sewage Treatment Works (STW) is located in Norwich and is operated by Anglian Water. The STW treats indigenous and imported sludge serving a population equivalent of 1.03 million.
The STW utilises pre-dewatering, Cambi's thermal hydrolysis process, anaerobic digestion, final dewatering, and an ammonia removal system for the effluent removed during final dewatering. The biogas generated is used for combined heat and power, while the STW's high-quality biosolids are land applied.
